Abstract:School-community cooperation is both a practice showing close integration of a region and an effective path for healthy development of schools in the new era. Cooperation between the school and the community is a two-way interaction, the values of which are: the school’s educational, civilizing, and economic functions extended to the community, and the community’s support and participation functions to the school. However, in many regions, there arise challenges of lack of cooperation initiatives among the community and the school, of separation of school curriculum from the community life, and of lack of policy support in line with“local conditions”. To meet those challenges, all social sectors should make efforts to advertise and educate about the significance and values of school-community cooperations, and schools and communities should act on the“go out and introduce in” cooperation mode to achieve mutual development. Government should handle power centralization and de-centralization properly to allow schools enough freedom to promote cooperations with communities.
