Vocational education can significantly strengthen people's ability to rid of poverty and prosper in ethnic Yi regions, and promotion of vocational education turns out to be an important strategy for targeted poverty alleviation. However, current vocational education in Liangshan prefecture faces the following problems: unreasonable specialty setting, insufficient cooperation between schools and enterprises, shortage of funds for running schools, and graduates' employment difficulties, etc. This paper offered four solutions: (1) refining specialties based on occupations; (2) developing humanities specialties with regional characteristics and advantages; (3) introducing policies to encourage enterprise participation in vocational education; (4) scheduling school hour with regard to needs of enterprises.
