Thanks to a common policy for college enrolment and an expansion of higher education, an increasing number of ethnic minority students get enrolled in regular colleges and more majority Han students attend colleges originally set for minority groups. Then core socialist values education and national unity education for college students have become a key component of higher education arrangement. As a university in ethnic minority regions, Xichang University keeps to the major line of national unity, relies upon student and teacher corps buildups, adopts modules of classroom lecture, activity extension and practical training, carries out four national cultural learning activities, i.e. learning of customs, languages, songs and lyrics, and dances, and thus builds a 1-2-3-4 National Unity Education Model, in which we use core socialist values to guide national unity education and use national unity culture to strengthen the core socialist values education, guiding students to correct ideology, ready learning, practical pursuit and ultimate perfection, and helping turn them into firm believer, active disseminator, and model executor of core socialist values.
