Digital video resources which are characterized by huge information content, being easy to transfer and visualization play a vital role in the new media era. This article elaborates the significance and the basis of the digital video resources asisting the ideological and political education from the perspective of resource theory, carrier theory and environment theory. It also describes the application of digital video resources in the ideological and political education in several forms and notes that several methods, such as strengthening the construction of resources and improving the level of application and management, should be adopted to improve the effectiveness of the ideological and political education.
