Xide County is affiliated to the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is a county of the Yi nationality. This study aims at investigating the popularity of Standard Chinese by sampling survey in Liangshan Xide National Middle School. The data suggests: First, the popularity of Standard Chinese is very outstanding in recently. Standard Chinese plays an important role in campus. Students show strong desire on getting hold of Standard Chinese, especially on formal occasions. Standard Chinese has highly frequency of utilization. Second, Standard Chinese is positive correlated with age. Third, there are no significant statistical differences between educational pattern and the level of Standard Chinese in this school. Forth, Standard Chinese gains highly recognition. Fifth, the popularity of Standard Chinese is high, however, the level of it should be improved. This investigation has positive consequence to improving the level of Standard Chinese of middle school students in ethnic minority areas.
