Based on the field observation, questionnaire investigation, literature research and other methods, the thesis analyses the situation of words’standardization in different areas and finds that in modern society, the phenomenon of writing ghost word, using traditional and simplified characters and abuse of homophonic words still exist. According to the analysis of the causes, the thesis comes up with five suggestions： perfecting laws and regulations and enhancing supervising strength;expanding the scope of the examining and approval of industrial and commercial administration; refining The Regulations of Outdoor Advertising Registration; improving publicity and strengthening the consciousness of using correct language;developing new technologies and purifying environment of language;making the whole society be active to organize a thorough rectification movement of irregular words.
