Dialogues in novels are emulation of realistic words and the implication behind the dialogues words are often rich and deep. There are mamy such examples in The Story of the Stone. From the angle of pragmatics, this text tries to use the cooperative principle and the context theory of Grice＇ s conversational implication theory to explore and discuss the implication behind the dialogue words in The Story of the Stone.
