Abstract:The objective of the study is to explore the relationship between social support and mental health and personality of college students to provide evidence for college students' meantal health educationn.125 impoverished college students were selected as the study group and120nonimpoverished as its control.Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90) and Social Support Rating Scale were adopted.Results have shown that factorial scores of somatization,obsessive compulsive,interpersonal sensitivity,depression,anxiety,paranoid ideation,psychoticism differed significantly between the two groups.Subjective social support and utilization of social support in impoverished group were sigficantly lower than that of nonimpoverished group.Social support of impoverished students negatively correlated with factors in SCL-90).The conclccsion is that social support has important effect on the meantal health of college students.In college meantal health education,non-intelligence factors in cultivation of college students.
