As a model of state governance that fully demonstrates the significant advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics， concentrating efforts on major affairs has been a specific concept frequently used in official discourse and academic research in recent years. In terms of its intrinsic senses， concentrating efforts on major affairs refers specifically to a governance model which bases its decision-making on science， on the overall situation of the country and on the centralized and unified leadership of the Communist Party of China to mobilize all parties and scientifically and effectively allocate resources at all levels in various fields to focus on the major tasks， key issues and outstanding problems in our country''s revolution， construction， reform， development and stability. From the evolution perspective， this governance model is neither an ancient tradition nor a replica of ancient Chinese "concentrating efforts to accomplish great projects"； instead， it has been developed and refined by several generations of leadership since the founding of New China. In different periods of our country''s revolution， construction and reform， "concentrating efforts on major affairs" has become necessary because of the changing conditions of world， national， party and other factors. And this model has profound and specific political， economic， cultural and social support mechanisms for its effective operation and success. From the trend of its practice， this model should not only go on for a long time， but also adapt to new situations and develop new mechanisms to promote its governance efficiency.
