Abstract:Abstract:In the early 21st century, there was a new trend in the field of eco-criticism. Postcolonial eco-criticism was the new force injected into the ecological research in the study of literature. As one aspect of postcolonial eco-criticism, the dimension of animal study and animal criticism also developed. Coetzee's novels focus on the ethical relationship between men and animals, animal survival dilemma under human hegemony, and the exposure of the ugly nature of human rational civilization. Analysis of Coetzee's novels from the perspective of postcolonial eco-criticism can appeal human beings to reestablish the ethical harmonious relationship between men and animals, advocate respecting for life, give animals humanistic care and protect animal rights.
