Abstract:The description of the disease in Eileen Chang's novels concentrates on the lung disease. On one hand, she imitated dramatically the romantic imagination of the May Fourth Movement writers' description of the disease. on the other hand, she restored the real condition of the terrible disease differing from the May Fourth Movement writers' description. Her objection to their description was due to the inharmony of her childhood family life and her observation to the desolated life. It also reflects her focus on common consciousness of human nature in her writing concept.
