Abstract:Xue Tao was a famous poetess in Tang Dynasty. There are fouty-four presenting poems in Xue Tao's existing ninety-one poems. The study on Xue Tao’s presenting poems translation is of great significance to help the target readers understand Xue Tao herself and Xue Tao's poetry. German translator Gutt applied relevance theory to translation study. He put forward that translation was an ostensive inference -- communicative activity. The ultimate goal of translation is to guarantee the success of communication. Based on the relevance theory, the comparison and analysis of presenting poems translation in two English versions of Xue Tao's poetry are studied in order to provide a new perspective in the translation of Xue Tao's poetry and Chinese classical works
