In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros created a unique immigrant environment for little girl Esperanza＇ s growth. Some images in the novel, such as house, high heel and four skinny trees, indicate the heroine＇ s growth perplexity of both attempting to integrate into the mainstream culture and wanting to retain the independence of their own ethnic culture. And she eventually decided to reach the final goal of saving Mango Street and achieving growth through leaving this community temporarily.
