Abstract:Cultivating students’critical thinking in the English teaching process is undoubtedly of great significance.Researches show that the English reading teaching in China as a whole tends to overemphasize the imparting of English knowledge and neglect the cultivation of students’thinking ability.This paper points out that the inadequacy of critical thinking cultivation in the current English reading teaching mainly results from three factors,including the binding of traditional culture,the lag of teaching conception,and the lack of critical thinking in teachers.
