The article starts from the physical features of container. Then it discovers that CONTAINER metaphor has the following functions： a container is a black box, being inside the container means being safe and protected, the contained part is more important, being inside the container is under control, being inside the container is the process of activities, which form a network within container and set limits on the metaphorical mappings from the source domains to the target domains and decide the productivity of CONTAINER metaphor.
