By using the methods of literature review, fieldwork, analysis and induction, this paper defines the scope of boundaries and clarifies the sources of Yi terminology that needs to be translated into Chinese. On the basis of detailed sta- tus description of the history and the current practice of Yi-Chinese terminology translation and in consideration of the main ethnic tasks in the new era, the paper analyses and summarizes the inspirations from the practice of Yi-Chinese ter- minology translation.
