Abstract:South Yunnan Yi traditional classical literature is the local oral literature recorded or recreated by Bimo with their own written languages——Yi characters, or even translated into other ethnic languages. Through generations the Bimo family have processed, modified, completed and improved these literature which are passed down to the modern times in this region. They include epics, legends, doctrines, sagas, rituals, love stories and translations in terms of the main forms and sources of the literature that has been protected and disseminated by the Bimo and popularized by Yi folks. They can be classified into "Jia Sujia", "She Yijia", and "A lijia" according to their different forms, occasions, and arias. An overall review of the genres, sources and contents of traditional classical literature in southern Yunnan finds that it is a mixture of nationalism and internationalism, kins and regions, protogenesis and heteromorphosis, nostalgia and aspirations, richness and complexities, inclusiveness and openness, literariness and sacrifices, historicalness and contemporaneity, etc.
