Abstract:Aesthetic standards about man in ethnic Yi group's Ke-Zhi involve essential factors of long hair, curved eyelashes, bright eyes, long and thin fingers, thin feet and slender waist for a pretty woman. Outside of the appearance, virtue and ability matter more. A perfect woman should be pretty and virtuous especially when she is a wife. The physical appearance of a man is focused on handsomeness, strength and brave temperament; a virtuous man should be brave against the enemies, strong against the adverse circumstances, good at the development of production, good at mediating and harmonizing relationships between relatives and friends, generous, knowledgeable, and eloquent. A perfect man should be virtuous first rather than handsome only. At the same time, ethnic Yi group's Ke-Zhi in Liangshan attaches importance to the beauty of harmony between men and women; they believe that ugly appearance has nothing to do with moral judgment, and they reject moral ugliness.
