Witchcraft belief is widespread among ethnic minorities in southwest China, and the marriages and families are first and most seriously influenced by the belief. Because witchcraft are traditionally passed to women instead of men and are contagious，the women who play witchcrafts and their family members (both men and women) are unable to get married normally，and the married or engaged ones would break up. They can only be married to family members of people who also play witchcrafts，or to poor or defective people. To fight the persecution of the belief，some young people even sacrificed their lives. Due to state law's deterrence, the notion of“witchcraft playing” is shrouded in a secret state. With progress of social economy, culture and education, witchcraft belief will increasingly lose its influence on people.
