Abstract:In recent years, quite a few scholars are undertaking researches on Yi People’s Nimu Cuobi, but few are focusing on a thorough research on reproduction worship in this ritual. Since ancient times, ancestor worship has been prevailing in Yi people who have attached great importance to population reproduction. Nimu Cuobi ritual is the core of Yi People’s ancestor worship ritual, which reflects not only the filial piety of descendants, but also descendants’pray for reproduction to their ancestral spirits. Via the case of Nimu Cuobi of Jike family in Ganluo county of Liangshan Prefecture, this paper discusses the symbolic form of Yi People's reproduction worship in this ritual.
