Abstract:The topics concerning reforms on and improvement of College English teaching have become a focus in the field of language teaching. In the context of consumer culture, such problems the College English teaching is facing as one-fold course type, utilitarian objectives and oversimplified means and so on. Based on this, the author has put forwards some approaches, in the perspective of consumer culture, the reforms on College English teaching such as customized curricula, competence-oriented objectives, personalized teaching ways and multiple evaluation systems
