Abstract:Folk religion, as one critical part of China’s traditional culture and value system, is widespread with a large following. The social life of the ethnic minority groups displays their unique cultures and beliefs. Therefore, seizing the relationship between the folk religion and public life, from the Folklore and Cultural anthropological perspectives could highlight the influence and meaning of folk belief in the daily lives of Namuyi Minority group. The folk belief of the Namuyi Minority group is seen to be has universal features as general folk region, meaning that it is a symbolic system formed by primitive religious worship, and marriage and funeral rituals. Furthermore, it has its own uniqueness due to its historical origin from Mongolian, Naxi, Qiang, and Yi ethnic religion elements. Therefore, the folk belief of Namuyi Minority group has the characteristics of utilitarianism, multi-religious, polytheism, and has the functions of ecological, moral cultivation, order maintenance, as well as cultural transmission.
