Deriving from folk songs and describing the customs of Bashu area, Zhuzhi poem is popular with Bashu people with its characteristics of vivid, exquisite, plain and natural. This paper, based on“Chengdu Zhuzhi Poem” by Lin Kongyi, tries to interpret Zhuzhi Poem from the perspectives of Folklore and History. It tends to completely present the traditional procedures of marriage and birth-giving which includes matchmaking, engagement, marriage-preparing, wedding, Huimen(the return of a bride to her mother’s home after wedding) and reproduction. Besides, as one of the local literature of Bashu area, not only does the Zhuzhi poem record the daily life but also the change of marriage and reproduction habits of Bashu people. So the interpretation of it cans reveal the change of people's opinion on the concept of gender and marriage and the reason why traditional marriage and reproduction ritual can have the enduring life.
