There＇s a difference in the cultural background and the time of creating in Edgar Allan Poe＇s Gothic novels and Pu Songling＇s Chinese Supernatural tales, but many striking resemblances can be found in their life experiences, the genre and motif of their works. The paper is aimed at deepening the comparative study on Chinese and American literary and culture, expanding research perspectives and methods on them, promoting cultural communication between the two countries by comparing the similarities and differences from the cultural perspective and the cause of the similarities and differences.
