“Tales of mystery and the supernatural”together with“tales of human”appeared in the period of Jin and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The reasons for the appearing of these two kinds of novels are：the rulers and upper classes needed certain novels to guide the masses to bow to them;idle talking were in vogue among the scholars during that period of time; besides, the introducing of Buddhism and the development of Taoism also provided new creative elements to the creation of the novels. All these mentioned above had a significant impact on the development of the novels at that time.
