Abstract:Slavery is a scar that never disappears in the short and prosperous history of the United States. It had made a great contribution to the development of the early North America, with the cost of those innocent Africans' lives and freedom. Toni Morrison' s novel "Beloved" reminds us of that period and reveals the sufferings of black people, especially black women. The novel prompts us to think about the origin and the relentless effects of slavery once again, playing an important role in the study of American slavery and black women' s station.
