Abstract:"The Day After Tomorrow" and "2012" are the representative works of American director Roland Emmerich. As the most influential disaster movies in the 21st century, archetypes behind the movie are entrusted director' s personal value of times. Through the application of Northrop Frye' s myth and archetypal theory, it aims at reinterpreting the imageries in the films and reveals their cultural implication in this paper.
