Since there is no comprehensive study on the military history of the Yi ethnic group in Liangshan prefecturet,his paper opens with an explanation of the significancet,he purposet,he angle of views and approaches to such study.It further expatiates upon the main focus of this study from the perspective of the relations of all-round development in Yi society to such military factors as military theory,military organization,military science and technology,past battles,military figures,military ethics,and wars.
