Family caring for the aged is still dominant and pervasive in rural areas.However,impacted by various factors arising from the gradual modernization,the function of family caring for the aged is increasingly weakening with the development of society and economy as well as the evolution of relationship between generations within the family.All of these economical,social and cultural changes will certainly interact and simultaneously influence the life quality of the aged in rural areas since the current social security pension system fails to function as expected.This paper,taking the example of an ethnic village G in Dehong country of Yunnan province,aims to explore various factors and the mechanism that affect the life quality of the aged in rural area and therefore puts forward some contributive enlightenment to improve family caring for the aged in rural areas.
