Shanghai is an all-inclusive and export-oriented city.It not only Stretches its arms to modern Ladies and Gentlemen,but also opens the gate for traditional young miladies and signorinos.Dongfang Didong appeared in literary world in the 1940s and he was concerned with a novel collection"Ladies and Gentlemen".This thesis tries to highlight Dongfang Didong’s personal art smell which was covered by Zhang Ailing.Dongfang Didong chose the subjects that he was familiar with,and he prefered to describe those young people’s marriage living life in Shanghai.New stimulus and temptation,confusion and loss were brought by Chinese and Western Cultures conflict at the turn of old and new times,which was refracted by the urban young people’s marital choice.
