| Emergentism denies the existence of inborn grammatical principles and claims that language phenomena can be best understood by reference to more basic non-linguistic factors such as the general cognitiw; and learning mechanisms and their interaction. This new theoretical perspective can help us to adjust the relationship between languistic theories and practice, thus promoting a coordinated development of the study of Linguistic theories and language acquisition. |
