Dao is a concept central to Lao Tzu' s ethical thinking as reported in Tao Te Ching. Various translators have rendered the term Dao in many different ways, but none succeeds in hinging out the rich and complex connotations. So this paper discusses and analyses these translations and think if we want to transmit the real Lao Tzu' s thought, it may be best to leave this key term untranslated.
