Hedges are a very important language phenomenon in Japanese.This paper mainly analyzes the importance of hedges in teaching Japanese as a second foreign language.Firstly,it summarizes the types of Japanese hedges.Secondly,it employs the theories of sociolinguistics and foreign language teaching to analyze the cultural elements behind it.Finally it offers some advice to improve the teaching of Japanese as a second foreign language based on the condition of Japanese teaching in our country.
