Abstract:Atigone is one of the greatest ancient tragedies of Sophchlus, while A Doll House is a modern drama talking about realistic social problems. This essay will provide a simple comparison between Antigone and A Doll House from perspectives of background, subject matter, significance and characters with an emphasis on comparing the two heroines' similarities and differences. Both Antigone and Nora are revolting characters fighting against patriarchal society. Although the style, process and result of their fighting are different, their revolting character reveals “principles and spirits of love” in “feminine rules”.
