Self-handicapping is a strategy which is used to protect or promote individuals' self-esteem in the case of their self-esteem is threatened. The article narrates and comments the self-handicapping and its correlative research based on annotating the definition, classification and effective complexional factors of self - handicapping. Therefore, we can not only understand this field macroscopically, but also grasp its research conditions and trends as a whole.
