Traditional family education of Yi society refers to the family education that had come into being before Yi area entered socialist society,and in Liangshan Prefecture it specially refers to the family education of Yi nationality which came before the implementation of our democratic reform in 1956.And the appearance of family education of Yi nationality is the product of Yi society that has developed into certain stage with the re- markable characteristics of class nature,social status and earliness,which not only emphasizes practice and calls for studying for the purpose of application,but also stresses on teaching by precept and example and exerting a subtle influence,and its educational content varies from age to age.
