The oral traditions of ''brother forefathers'' among various ethnic groups in Yunnan is inherited and developed in parallel with the ethnic memories of ''common origins and ancestors'',which involves imaginative construction of the formation,development, and changes of one''s own and neighboring ethnic groups, as well as simple explanation of cultural differences between different ethnic groups.The understanding and recognition of the reality of harmonious coexistence and cultural diversity among ethnic groups are distilled and condensed into the oral narrative tradition of ''brother forefathers'',and the cultural identity of the Chinese nation is forged among various ethnic groups in Yunnan through the symbolic representation of ''brother forefathers'' as a cohesive group.
