In the early days since the founding of the People′s Republic of China, the Party worked to preach Party′s eth- nic policies, build basic-level state power organs, train minority cadres, unite upper-class Yi people, honor Yi people′s customs and beliefs, and oppose the narrow Han chauvinism in Liangshan Yi region and achieved fruitful results. Then the development of trade and economy, the improvement of culture and education, the rise of Party′s prestige among the mas- ses, and the improvement of relationship between Yi and Han people have been achieved. The results have proved that the party′s ethnic policy in Liangshan Yi region in the early days since the founding of the People′s Republic of China is a great success of combining Marxism with China′s national conditions and a concrete endeavor of sinicization of Marxism.
