Abstract:Ethnic Yi group originates from aboriginal "Qiang" and "Pu" peoples inhabiting southwest China in the ancient times. Ethnic Yi group was formed and developed on the basis of "Qiang" immigrants pouring into the southwest China and the frequent communication and assimilation between "Qiang" immigrants and aboriginal "Pu" natives. "Pu" aborigines, one of Yi group's ancestral origins, were the earliest inhabitants in Southwest China. So we can still see the influence of "Pu" cultural heritage in today's Yi culture, such as worship of dragon, worship of bamboo, and a full-dress with long tapering tail at back
