Evolving from ethnic Yi group's own writing symbols, Yi characters have a long and brilliant history.Because of its artistic form of unique strokes and structure, Yi characters enjoy more artistic creations in their calligraphy. The phenomenon of "changing forms of characters" in ancient Yi Bimo writings should be the earliest calligraphic work of ancient Yi characters, nevertheless, people did not have the concept of calligraphy then, and later generations are also slow to develop it. In recent years, Yi calligraphy has witnessed rapid development and innovation, with the adoption of Standardization Program for Yi Language by primary school to college Model One students. Nowadays, enthusiasts for Yi calligraphy are constantly increasing in numbers and Yi calligraphy is enjoying more practical and artistic values.
