Abstract:Current Chinese-English translations for sports research paper titles are short of standards, with frequent grammatical errors, inconsistent terminological translations and ineffective communication of cultural terms. In this paper we conduct case analyses on these phenomena from grammatical, terminological and cultural dimensions. Based on this, we propose three solutions: following grammatical rules and having a good knowledge of collocations; checking out professional terms and weighing academic terms' translations; reproducing cultural images and highlighting Chinese elements. It is hoped that our study can help improve the Chinese-English translation quality of sports research paper titles.
