The invigorating function and the poverty-relief sustainability of industrial poverty alleviation have received great attention in recent years' targeted poverty alleviation campaigns. However, because of the distribution of impoverished people in rural areas and the different situations across different regions, different industries or the same industry has different effects on poverty alleviation results in different regions. Based on the theory of industrial gradient transfer and the theory of feasible capabilities, we explain the reasons why development of agricultural industries in impoverished areas can better alleviate farmers out of poverty. Then, we take Liangshan Prefecture as an example and make quantitative analysis of the poverty alleviation effects of three industrial poverty alleviation campaigns. We found that the development of agricultural industries could promote the self-initiative and participation of farmers, alleviating poverty better than other approaches. Based on such findings, we proposed ideas on the ways to develop quality agricultural industries to rid impoverished farmers of poverty.
