The History of the Yi Contemporary Literature (1978-2018) is the first book on history of Yi contemporary literature, which describes the historical development of the Yi contemporary literary genre. This paper studies the compilation of this book from four aspects: its literary viewpoint, principle and approach for its historical period division, its literary historical outlook, and its deficiencies, so as to make out the methodology for studying the history of China's ethnic minority literature.
